Classes

NameDescription
AlbersProjectionThe Albers projection: an equal-area conic projection, for the maps of a country or a continent. The distortion is smallest between its two standard parallels. The defaults are those of maps of the contiguous United States.
AzimuthalEquidistantProjectionThe azimuthal equidistant projection, in its polar aspect: the map of a polar region, such as Antarctica or the Arctic, centered on the North Pole, or on the South Pole with AzimuthalEquidistantProjection.SouthPole. The distances from the pole are true, the meridians are straight lines from the pole and the parallels are circles around it.
CoordinateConversionThe projection of a ProjectedCoordinateSystem: converts the longitudes and latitudes of an ellipsoid to eastings and northings in meters, as the map projection methods of the EPSG dataset define them.
CoordinateReferenceSystemA coordinate reference system (CRS): what the two numbers of a position mean. The library works with longitudes and latitudes on WGS 84 (EPSG:4326); a CRS converts its coordinates to and from them, so a position can go from any CRS to any other one through WGS 84.
EllipsoidAn ellipsoid of revolution that models the shape of the Earth, such as the one of WGS 84 or GRS 80.
EncodedPolylineEncodes and decodes the positions of a line with the encoded polyline algorithm of Google, used by Google Maps, OSRM, Valhalla or Strava, such as _p~iF~ps|U_ulLnnqC_mqNvxq`@.
EqualEarthProjectionThe Equal Earth projection (Šavrič, Patterson and Jenny, 2018): an equal-area pseudocylindrical projection for world maps, so the colored areas of a choropleth are in proportion to the areas of the regions.
EquirectangularProjectionThe equirectangular (plate carrée) projection: the longitude is x and the latitude is y.
FlatGeobufReads and writes FlatGeobuf files (version 3): a binary format of features, encoded with FlatBuffers, with an optional spatial index that lets a reader get the features of a box without decoding the others.
FlatGeobufReaderOptionsThe options of the FlatGeobuf reader, FlatGeobuf.
FlatGeobufWriterOptionsThe options of the FlatGeobuf writer, FlatGeobuf.
GeoBufferOptionsThe options of GeoGeometry.Buffer.
GeoFeatureA feature: a geometry, its properties and its identifier, such as a country, a road or a city.
GeoFeatureCollectionA list of features, such as the countries of a map, as the readers return it and the writers take it.
GeoGeometryA geometry, as defined by GeoJSON and the Simple Features of the OGC: a GeoPoint, a GeoMultiPoint, a GeoLineString, a GeoMultiLineString, a GeoPolygon, a GeoMultiPolygon or a GeoGeometryCollection.
GeoGeometryCollectionA set of geometries of any types.
GeoJsonReads and writes GeoJSON (RFC 7946): a FeatureCollection, a Feature or a geometry.
GeoJsonWriterOptionsThe options of the GeoJSON writer, GeoJson.
GeoLineStringA line through positions, such as a river, a road or a route.
GeoMultiLineStringA set of lines, such as the segments of a GPS track.
GeoMultiPointA set of points.
GeoMultiPolygonA set of polygons, such as a country and its islands.
GeoPointA point, such as a city.
GeoPolygonA polygon, such as a country or a lake: an exterior ring, then the rings of its holes, as in GeoJSON.
GeoProjectionA map projection: converts longitudes and latitudes to points of a plane, in radii of the Earth, with y increasing to the north. Scale and translate the result to draw a map.
GeographicCoordinateSystemA geographic coordinate reference system: longitudes and latitudes on the ellipsoid of a datum, such as WGS 84, ETRS89 or NTF.
GpxReads and writes GPX, the GPS Exchange Format: the waypoints, routes and tracks of a GPS device or of a sports application.
GpxWriterOptionsThe options of the GPX writer, Gpx.
KmlReads and writes KML 2.2 (OGC 12-007r2), the format of Google Earth and Google My Maps.
KmlWriterOptionsThe options of the KML writer, Kml, also used by the KMZ writer, Kmz.
KmzReads and writes KMZ: a KML document, Kml, in a zip archive, with the files it references.
LambertConformalConicConversionThe Lambert conformal conic projection: the projection of Lambert 93 and of the Lambert zones of France, and of many state plane systems. With two standard parallels, it is the EPSG method 9802 (2SP), whose scale is true along them; without, it is the EPSG method 9801 (1SP), whose scale is LambertConformalConicConversion.ScaleFactor along CoordinateConversion.LatitudeOfOrigin.
MercatorConversionThe Mercator projection on an ellipsoid (EPSG methods 9804, 9805 and 1044), as World Mercator (EPSG:3395) uses it, or on a sphere whose radius is the semi-major axis of the ellipsoid (EPSG method 1024, the pseudo-Mercator of Web Mercator, EPSG:3857) when MercatorConversion.IsSpherical is true.
MercatorProjectionThe Mercator projection: conformal (it keeps the angles and the shapes of small areas), it enlarges the areas far from the equator. The poles are at infinity: the latitudes are limited to ±85.05°, where the world map is a square, as on the tiles of web maps.
ProjectedCoordinateSystemA projected coordinate reference system: eastings and northings on a plane, such as UTM, Lambert 93 or Web Mercator, made of a ProjectedCoordinateSystem.GeographicCoordinateSystem and the CoordinateConversion that projects it.
ShapefileReads and writes ESRI shapefiles (ESRI Shapefile Technical Description, July 1998): the geometries of the .shp file with the attributes of the dBASE .dbf file, from files, from streams, or from a .zip archive.
ShapefileReaderOptionsThe options of the shapefile reader, Shapefile.
TopoJsonReads and writes TopoJSON, the format of map files such as world-atlas and us-atlas: a Topology whose named objects reference arcs, so that a border shared by two polygons is stored once.
TopoJsonWriterOptionsThe options of the TopoJSON writer, TopoJson.
TransverseMercatorConversionThe transverse Mercator projection (EPSG method 9807), also known as Gauss–Krüger: the projection of UTM and of many national grids, such as the British National Grid. It is conformal and true to scale (times TransverseMercatorConversion.ScaleFactor) along its central meridian.
WellKnownBinaryReads and writes the Well-Known Binary (WKB) representation of a geometry, as defined by the OGC Simple Features and ISO 19125, and the extended WKB of PostGIS (EWKB).
WellKnownTextReads and writes the Well-Known Text (WKT) representation of a geometry, such as POINT (2.35 48.86), as defined by the OGC Simple Features and ISO 19125.

Structs

NameDescription
GeoBoundsA box of longitudes and latitudes, in degrees. A box that crosses the 180th meridian has its west side east of its east side, as RFC 7946 allows: new GeoBounds(177, -21, -178, -12) goes from the longitude 177 to 180, then from -180 to -178.
GeoPositionA position on the Earth, in degrees, with an optional altitude, measure and time.
HelmertTransformationA seven-parameter Helmert transformation from the geocentric coordinates of a datum to those of WGS 84, in the position vector convention (EPSG method 9606), as the TOWGS84 element of WKT and the +towgs84 parameter of PROJ give it.
